SETTING BACKGROUND
Leia was born on the cusp of massive changes to the galaxy government. One man masterminded a plot to take over power from all sectors and bring the galaxy under the heel of his direct authority. Starships and advanced technology exist, as does poverty, slavery, pack animals, and fantastical space wizards with laser swords. All come to play their parts in a centuries-long story of the fight for freedom from oppression and the search for peace.
HISTORY
PERSONALITY
Leia is feisty, she inherited her father’s temper and her mother’s reasoning ability. So while she can often get angry quickly she knows better than to jump at just anyone. If she is yelling or screaming at someone there is a reason that person, in particular, is her target. She has a bit of a prideful streak, but it comes from her being raised as she was and is right a good amount of the time. Leia’s intelligence and quick-wittedness has gotten her out of as much trouble as her temper and ambition have gotten her into.
She's short but what she lacks in height she more than makes up for in sheer presence. She can cow a being nearly a meter taller than herself with just a look and has little patience for arrogant stupidity. It was no surprise that Mon Mothma herself selected Leia to be her protege and to be groomed to take on the full leadership of the rebellion when Mon Mothma was no longer the leader. Leia’s reputation looms large and she carries herself with the weight of someone far more physically imposing than herself. The sheer force of will she gives off has been an aid to her in diplomatic endeavors even though it had vastly been a source of conflict with her and the senate.
She’d never ask someone else to do something she was unwilling to do herself, though she does acknowledge when others have more or better skills or talents to do things than she does herself. Leia will often lend a hand even if it is beyond her leadership duties, be that courier, bringing food to troops, morale-boosting, transport, or even repairs, she’s no stranger to hard work for a cause. She's equally refined and rugged, she has faced the same dangers she sent others into and only stayed back when she was deemed too valuable to be in a fight. Or more accurately when she was not allowed to go because of her assigned value. Sometimes being the face and heart of a movement was as much hampering as helping.
She is a passionate woman who has, by extension of that, a rather short fuse. Though she can play politics and diplomacy with the best of them there are a few people and ways to set her off in seconds. Han Solo seems to be an expert in that as he gets under her skin like no one else ever has. The two also have an unspoken mutual attraction that causes them to bump heads every time she expects him to act out of goodness and he expects to be recognized for doing what he does for her. She has so rarely allowed herself to become romantically interested in anyone that this back and forth between them is frustrating to her and tends to be intense with blows ups frequent enough that most have just gotten used to them.
Anyone displaying callousness or cruelty could find themselves on the receiving end of a tiny whirlwind of fury. For her stature, she has amazing endurance when it comes to dressing down a being who needs it. She stood toe to toe with both Vader and Tarkin, lied to the latter’s face even with the threat to her homeworld made clear. She refuses to be intimidated or to allow others to be pushed around. This dates back to her youth and learning about slaves and slavery and her hatred that such a concept even existed.
Leia is loyal and will fight fiercely to the last in defense of someone needing it, though blasters were not her only weapons. She is well trained in diplomacy and ready to step in when cooler heads need to prevail. She has an amazing ability to compartmentalize, as shown when she put her grief for her planet and family on hold to advise and assist the rebellion in the first Death Star attack.
CANON POWERS
Leia is an untrained Force user, she has an instinctual empathy for others to correctly identify if they are telling the truth or not and has enhanced reflexes(better than average aim, ability to throw or catch, surefooted, etc.) but she has not been trained in any use of these things or greater force powers. They are all unconscious acts and no canon evidence exists for her consciously tapping into a deeper use of it until Empire Strikes back and later.
POWER SELECTION
I'd like to have Leia to have Noospheric Powers based on her primary drive of Hope.
For canon powers:
Minor empathic ability.
Good reflexes.
For noospheric powers:
Leia's powers are based on hope, the unfailing and uncompromising hope she carries with her.
Inspiration: the ability to 'buff' others to make them more efficient/stronger with their own powers.
Pep talk: A stirring speech that calms doubt and gives courage.
Compassionate hand: Minor healing and emotional soothing with her presence and touch.
ABILITIES
Leia is a skilled leader, statesman, and speaker.
Skilled starship pilot and vehicle driver.
Knowledge of basic engineering and repair.
Skilled and quick learning linguist.
Trained rider (thrantas specifically, but other animals as well)
Skilled in hair styling and makeup. (specializing in traditional Alderaani styles)
Intense military training in weapons, hand to hand combat.
SETTING/SUITABILITY
➤ How do you expect your character to respond to the setting? Even if they plan to rebel in the long term, will they be able to at least obey enough to not get shocked to death? Leia will bristle at being told she was not going to be allowed to go home but will fall into... or more probably saunter haughtily into a leadership position among the new hires. She will absolutely rebel but she knows the value of discretion and secrets and how to skate the line of acceptable behavior.
➤ What do you hope to do with your character long-term? I believe Leia would be good for bringing groups of people together, organizing things, and being a thorn in the side of Jorgmund while not destroying everything. Honestly, the idea of her being on the rig is just delightful for me and I think it would be for others as well.
➤ Does your character currently have skills that would allow them to adapt, survive, and do the heroic things being asked of them? If your character doesn't, do you think they'd have the capacity to learn quickly? Absolutely! Leia is an eloquent statesman, but also a skilled fighter, a pilot, even something of an engineer. She has many skills that would make her useful on the rig and to her fellow New Hires.
➤ If they're not used to cooperating with others, what makes you think they'll be able to adapt to cooperating with the group? Cooperation by way of leadership is her gig, though she might get defensive if given orders by others if they haven’t yet earned her respect.
➤ Will your character have long-term plans to rebel against Jorgmund? If so, how? Will they betray the other PCs and cooperate with Jorgmund? If so, how do you plan to handle the negative CR that might arise? Yes. 100% guaranteed rebellion. She won't intentionally endanger innocents or people who are being used against their knowledge or will, but people who are being oppressors, abusers, and tyrants will not get the same sympathy. She has been known to work with the lesser of enemies against a greater foe before, so working with someone that she disagrees with is not out of the question.

[The young woman in the ill-fitting jumpsuit with the sleeves rolled up multiple times frowned at the wires and cuffs and monitors connected to her.]
[The voice emanating from a wall speaker confirmed it. Ready?]
I don’t suppose there’s really much point in putting it off, is there?
[The voice repeated again, a little less politely, Ready?]
Yes, fine, get on with it.
[What is your least favorite thing about humanity?]
[She balked at the question, what sort of interrogation was this? Leia’s brow furrowed and she blinked slowly, carefully thinking over her words before she responded.]
People will take the easiest way, the least painful way even if it is harmful to many. It’s the dark side of our desire for survival. But if we sacrifice that very thing that gives us humanity, that capacity to help others and stand up for others, then what are we?
Is that answer enough?
[She frowned at the camera and snorted while scooting up a bit more in her seat, the kriffing chair was too tall for her feet to touch the floor and she hated swinging them loose like a child.]
[What is the one thing that you believe to be true that very few others do?]
That there is no such thing as a hopeless situation. There is always hope, there are always options, there is always another way.
[There was a long silence and then a shrill beep.]
No, that is the truth, and it’s something I refuse to change for you or anyone. If Tarkin couldn’t crush it you don’t stand a chance.
[What are the qualities you like least and most in your parents?]
[Her head snapped up sharply, even her frown vanishing to a mask of thin-lipped silence. She looked as cold and unyielding as ice.]
I don’t find anything funny about that question.
[Silence.]
[More silence.]
[The shrill buzzer again.]
My family is dead. My parents are dead. My world is dead. What I like least in their absence from the galaxy, not just for myself but because of the people they were. They were good, they helped people. My mother was a generous and benevolent queen and my father fought for the freedom of others even though he had his own.
[Her posture was ramrod straight while she spoke, pride clear in her bearing. But it softened when she continued.]
What I liked best was how my mother never told me my dreams were too big, or someone else's was too small. My father would let me stay up late, sometimes fall asleep in his study while I watched him work. He spoiled me with attention and affection and his time. They were generous with their hearts and I never doubted once in my life that I was loved.
[She waited for the buzz again, but it didn’t come. After another moment she was informed the test was concluded.]
That’s it? I’m done?
[She wasted no time in unhooking herself and striding away from the interview room, she managed to avoid tears until she was well on her way down the hall.]

(One of my favorite arguments between Leia and Han from a meme on Bakerstreet)
Stang! If he wasn't the most stubborn, bullheaded son of a gundark she'd ever had the displeasure of arguing with... "And the cost of not reaching an agreement with the Hapans?" Had he thought of that?
"Could you at least sit down if we're going to argue? Because craning my neck to look up at you, you're becoming a literal pain in the neck." Leia was so close to telling him he could fly off to wherever suited him better, as she had once before.
But she hadn't meant it then any more than she would now. Back then she'd known they needed him, he was a good pilot and he cared, whether he wanted to admit it or not. Now... well now she knew she cared and it wasn't just for his skill.
"I asked to have you head up the escort, but my request was denied." She sighed and folded into a chair. She hadn't wanted to give him more reason to dislike what her duty was, but she knew she had to be honest with him at least. "Mon Mothma, and others, don't feel you're the right sort of impression for us to be making. And it's important that this deal go through." Every ally they could get now was necessary, every resource, every pact; they were all crucial. And she'd spent hours pouring over communications before coming to bed, he had to know that. He had to understand how much this meant.

FINAL QUESTIONS
The players won't know what the mods are doing with these questions until sometime later.
➤ Will your character suspect some kind of guiding intelligence has brought them to the game? Or will they think it was random or done by Jorgmund? Leia would automatically assume someone was behind this and for very specific reasons. She will probably assume it is something to do with the Empire until proven otherwise.
➤ If they think it was something other than Jorgmund, like God or some other force of fate, what character traits do they think of that intelligence as having? Is it cruel or kind? Capriciously punishing them or doing it for good reason? Once she understands it isn't the empire she'll think it is fate or the force. Which she doesn't fully understand but knows enough to feel it is bigger than herself and works in mysterious ways.

SETTING BACKGROUND
“It is a period of civil wars in the galaxy. A brave alliance of underground freedom fighters has challenged the tyranny and oppression of the awesome GALACTIC EMPIRE.” The opening Crawl of Star Wars: A New Hope.
HISTORY
- Adopted by Queen Breha Organa and her husband Bail of Alderaan.
- Raised by parents and extended family and groomed for politics from infancy.
- A former Jedi apprentice was covertly assigned to watch over the Princess and ensure her safety.
- Once cut her hair short to avoid the long sessions of hair care and styling.
- Friends with Winter Retrac, the two would often switch places for fun.
- Given a thorough education and developed a hard work ethic early.
- At the age of 6 her father took her to Ithor for a diplomatic visit, it changed her view and her life forever.
- By age 7, Leia was enrolled in higher education and her own nature lead her to express beliefs held by the rebellion that worked against the empire.
- She also staged a sit-in protest for better juice in her school, which worked.
- Leia went on to hack the computers of her school to replace Emperor Palpatine’s name with curse words and play the anthem of the Old Republic which was forbidden, her antics were enough to have her expelled.
- At 8 she snuck out of the palace and was nearly kidnapped to be held as pressure against her father, but was saved by her Jedi guardian.
- At age 10 she was put into a finishing course to groom her to be a proper lady, Leia saw the unfairness of class distinction for the first time and hated it.
- At 13 Leia met and instantly despised Wilhuff Tarkin.
- When she was 16 Bail had seen enough to know his daughter would need more than lessons in deportment and hired a mercenary to train her in weapons and self-defense.
- At 17 she overheard her father communicating about the rebellion and decided that was where her future would lay, she didn’t mention it to her father at the time.
- The same year Leia refused the traditional debut of royal daughters, earning her the ire of her aunts, again.
- She was appointed Assistant to the Senator of Alderaan the following year.
- Leia finally told her father her true feelings about the empire and the rebellion.
- After her presentation to the Emperor, Leia had been sent to Kashyyyk under what amounted to house arrest, to keep her out of the way and quiet.
- Even under house arrest, Leia managed to get intel on the Skyhook craft being used to transport Wookiees enslaved by the empire.
- Though a plan was underway to rescue her, Leia refused to leave until the Skyhook was destroyed and the Wookiees freed.
- Shortly after she was taking part in a meeting of the leaders of the rebellion, appearing via holovid when the meeting was disrupted, her feed cut, and the physical meeting stormed by imperials.
- Bail was caught at the meeting and deemed a traitor, he had to step down as Senator and Leia became Senator.
- She used her position and diplomatic immunity as a cover for rebellion activities.
- Her forthright and outspoken nature earned her enemies in the senate.
- Leia came into possession of the plans of The Death Star.
- Leia’s ship was boarded and she was captured but not until she’d sent the plans off with R2-D2.
- Leia was held on the Death Star and interrogated yet did not tell Darth Vader anything.
- She was brought before Tarkin and threatened: tell him where the rebel base was located or watch her home planet be destroyed.
- Leia gave the name of an older, disused base.
- Tarkin gloated over his success and gave the order to have Alderaan destroyed anyway.
- Leia watched helplessly as the planet was reduced to debris.
- She continued to spite Tarkin and was put in a cell to await execution.
- Kenobi and others arrived and helped her escape from the Death Star.
- Kenobi sacrificed himself to buy the others time to escape.
- Leia immediately took charge and directed them to the Rebel stronghold on Yavin 4.
- Realizing the escape was likely tracked, she readied the rebels to take the fight to the empire.
- Luke Skywalker agreed to join as a pilot, Solo took his reward and fled.
- Leia monitored the fight from the control room, unwilling to leave the others if this was to be the last stand.
- The Death Star approached Yavin 4 and rebel fighters converged on it.
- Skywalker was in trouble when Solo intervened letting Luke destroy the Death Star.
- Many small missions followed to raise funds for the rebellion, gather new members, and secure a new base.
- The Alliance set up on the ice world of Hoth.
- She was planning the Rebel Alliance’s next moves by 2 ABY.
Leia stated the only way she would allow herself to be presented to the Emperor was as a Senator, not some pretty thing to be married off to a ‘good family.’
